  • Life is so Beautiful, Stay Alive…Don’t Smoke Cigarettes
    Peter Max
    1969

Beginning in the 1960s Peter Max produced vibrant cosmic landscapes with striking visual parallels to the themes that were being expressed by The Beatles; mind expansion, intergalactic journeys, fantastic timeless landscapes, colorful portaraits of curious characters, and above all love for fellow man.

Certainly the subject of Max’s work often reflects his own social and spiritual interests alongside his aesthetic and formal concerns. Throughout the past two decades he has become a champion of many causes ranging from environmentalism and the campaign for Tibet, to the restoration of the Statue of Liberty.

This particular poster, with its explosion of form and color is among his most representative of Max’s style, iconic of the period and its effervescence and optimism.
